THE BUG LIST
Want to come up with your next great problem-solving idea? Come up with a bug list.
- Keep a journal of everything you do in a single day.
- Pay special attention to the things that bug you.
Boom. There’s gotta be something in there that can be solved by something you can make!
If there’s already a solution to that problem out there, then at least you’ve solved a daily bug. If there’s not, go for it!

MIND THE GAP
- Is there a gap in the market?
- Is the opportunity open?
- Do enough people suffer from the problem, and are they willing to pay for a solution?
Those three things are the ingredients for great products.
IDEAS NEED OXYGEN
You’d have to be a fool to keep your idea a secret! It’s way better to be hungry for feedback. Don’t worry about people stealing your idea – because ideas need oxygen!
Secrets kill you and your idea – you gotta let ‘em breathe, give them the nutrients to grow.
What’s interesting is – China has a very different attitude toward Intellectual Property. In China, if you see an idea and think you can make it cheaper, faster, better – you go for it.
That’s why we see so many copies of popular products stamped ‘Made in China’. In the West it’s different, we tend to protect everything with patents and legal tape which ultimately slows down progress.
No wonder China is going through an economic boom!
On that, we have an article and documentary on Shenzhen, the Chinese super-city, which explains all this in detail on The Rebound website.
